Solution:

Rhizome is an underground modification of stem. It grows horizontaly forward under soil surface. It has distinct nodes and internodes with scaly leaves arising at the nodes. There are well marked apical and axillary buds also e.g., Canna, Zingiber, Curcuma etc.
