Solution:

The pituitary gland is divided anatomically into an adenohypophysis and neurohypophysis. Adenohypophysis consists of 2 portions (i) pars distalis (ii) pars intermedia. pars distalis region of the pituitary, commonly called anterior pituitary, produces growth hormone. The over-secretion of GH that stimulates the abnormal growth of the body leading to gigantism and low secretion of GH results in stunted growth resulting in dwarfism.
