Q. Gibberellins can promote seed germination because of their influence on

AIIMSAIIMS 2015Plant Growth and Development

Solution:

Gibberellins can promote seed germination because of their influence on production of hydrolyzing enzymes. In barley and other grass seeds the embryo releases gibberellins causing the aleurone layer of the endosperm to produce enzymes (i.e., $\alpha$-amylase) which converts stored starch into mobilize sugars for germination.
