Mastigamoeba is a genus which belongs to the Archamoebae group of Kingdom Protista. They are characterized as amoeboid flagellates with a clear hyaline cytoplasm. Mastigamoeba are polymorphic as they can exist as amoeboid flagellates, aflagellate amoebae, multinucleate amoebae, and as cysts. They also possess pseudopodia and flagellum. The singular flagellum is consists of a 9 + 2 microtubule structure.
