A restriction enzyme is a biocatalyst that can cut DNA at a specific part of the sequences which is now termed as restriction sites. Hind II is the first restriction enzyme that was extracted from Haemophilus influenzae Rd strain II. Thus, the enzyme got labelled as Hind II.
