Heteophylly is the phenomenon of displaying different leaf type during the lifetime of a plant. Buttercup displays this based on the environment the leaf is exposed to. In water the leaf pattern is different and in air the leaf pattern is different. Cotton, coriander, larkspur show heterophylly in life cycle phase - juveline leaf is different than adult phase.
