A
$SP^2$
15%
B
$SP^3$
62%
C
$SP^3 d$
17%
D
$SP^3 d^2$
6%
Solution:
The type of hybridisation in an atom can be determined By using the formula
$H=\frac{1}{2}[V+Y-C+A]$
Here, $V=$ valence shell electrons of the central atom
$Y=$ number of monovalent atom
$C=$ total positive charge and
$A=$ total negative charge In case of $PCl _{3}$
$H=\frac{1}{2}[5+3]=4$
Hybridisation of phosphorus atom is $s p^{3}$.
Pyramidal shape (due to presence of one lone pair of electron.)
