Q. Formation of mRNA from DNA is

UP CPMTUP CPMT 2007

Solution:

Transfer of genetic material from DNA to m-RNA is called transcription. The transfer of coded information from DNA to RNA occurs over the DNA template. Only one strand of DNA act as the coding strand or template strand. It occurs with the help of enzyme RNA polymerase. It is the first step of protein synthesis. Formation of proteins with the help of information present in mRNA is called translation. In transformation the genetic material of one bacterial cell goes into another bacterial cell and converts one type of bacterium into another type. In transduction transfer of genetic material occurs with the agency of bacteriophages.
