Q. For the reaction
$ C(s)+CO_{2}(g)2CO(g) $
the partial pressure for $ CO_{2} $ and $CO$ are $4$ and $8$ atm respectively. $ K_{p} $ for the reaction is

AMUAMU 2003

Solution:

Key Idea For the reaction
$C ( s )+ CO _{2}( g ) \rightleftharpoons 2 CO ( g )$
$K_{p}=\frac{\left(p_{ CO }\right)^{2}}{\left(p_{ CO _{2}}\right)}$
Here, $p_{ CO }=8 \,atm$ and $p_{ CO _{2}}=4 \,atm$
Therefore, $ K_{p}=\frac{(8)^{2}}{4}=\frac{64}{4}$
$ K_P = 16$ atm
