Q. For the adjoining diagram, the correct relation between $I_1,I_2$ and $ I_3$ is ( $I$ - moment of inertia)Physics Question Image

AIPMTAIPMT 2000System of Particles and Rotational Motion

Solution:

Moment of Inertia of a triangle lamina about a
$ \text { side }=\frac{ mh ^2}{6} $
where $h$ is height of lamina w.r.t that side
height of lamina w.r.t $BC =4$
height of lamina wr.t $AB =3$
So $I_{B C} > I_{A B}$
$ I _3 > I _1 $
