Q. For a reaction $[R] \rightarrow P$ a graph of $[R]$ against time is found to be a straight line. What is the order of this reaction?

J & K CETJ & K CET 2010Chemical Kinetics

Solution:

Since, the graph of $[R] v s$ time, $t$ is straight line, the order of reaction must be zero because for zero order reaction,
integrated rate equation is $[R]=-k t+\left[R_{0}\right]$
The slope of this graph is negative.
