Flavr Savr variety of tomato is a transgenic crop. “Flavr Savr” is genetically engineered tomatoes which express delayed softening. It is done by inactivating the gene which produces enzyme polygalacturonase. Polygalacturonase enzyme is responsible for breakdown of pectin.
