First man made cereal is Triticale, produced by hybridization between Triticum and Secale cereale (rye). If Triticale is produced by hybridization between Triticum durum $(4n)$ and Secale cereale $(2n)$ then it is hexaploid Triticale. When it is produced by hybridization between Triticum aestivum and Secale cereale it in octoploid in nature.
