Q. First Bohr radius of an atom with $ Z=82$ is $R$. Radius of its third orbit is

J & K CETJ & K CET 2008Atoms

Solution:

Radius of Bohr's orbit.
$R_{n}=\frac{A_{0} n^{2}}{Z}$
$\Rightarrow R_{n} \propto n^{2}$ (Z= constant)
$\therefore R_{3}=3^{2} R=9\, R$
