Q. Find the minimum frequency of light which can ionize a hydrogen atom

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Ionization energy of H-atom $=13.6 \, eV$
$\therefore hf_{m i n}=13.6 \, eV$
$\therefore f_{m i n}=\frac{13.6 \times 1.6 \times 10^{- 19}}{6.63 \times 10^{- 34}}=3.28\times 10^{15} \, Hz$
