Q. Find the apparent weight of a body of mass $1.0\, kg$ falling with an acceleration of $10\, m \cdot s ^{-2}$. $\left(g \approx 10\, m \cdot s^{-2}\right)$

AP EAMCETAP EAMCET 2020

Solution:

Mass of body, $M=1\, kg$
Falling acceleration of body, $a=10\, ms ^{-2}$
$g=10\, ms ^{-2}$
$[\because$ Here, $a=g]$
$\therefore $ Apparent weight $=m(g-a)=m \times 0=0$
$\therefore $ When body is falling with gravitational acceleration, then its apparent weight will be zero.
