Solution:

Darwin conceptualised the organic evolution as a result of natural selection. The prodigality resulted into the production of huge number of offspring. Since the resources are limited, there is interspecific, intraspecific or natural struggles for existence. Those organisms which show variation survive as the fittest. According to him, this fitness is reproductive fitness with the available resources. These organisms evolve into a new species.
Since, the origin is common, from the original ancestral population, the organisms tend to share some common characters.
