Extrusion of second polar body from egg nucleus occurs
NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Human Reproduction
Solution:
In oogenesis the primary oocyte forms secondary oocyte just before ovulation. This secondary oocyte as formed starts Meiosis 2 but this is arrested at metaphase 2 and is ovulated at this stage. It enters the oviduct and remains viable for one day and then sheds in the form of menstruation alongwith the endometrial lining. Thus secondary oocyte sheds in the arrested phase only. When in the oviduct if the sperm enters there are chances of fertilization. The sperm swims the vagina, cervix and uterus are enters the oviduct where it approaches the ovum membrane. As the sperm touches the membrane the MAF (Metaphase arrested factor) disappears and thus Meiosis 2 completes following this, syngamy i.e. fusion of nuclei takes place and thus fertilization is completed.
