Plasmids are extra-chromosomal, self replicating, usually circular, double stranded $DNA$ molecules found naturally in many bacteria and also in some yeasts. $F$ factors are also extra chromosomal $DNA$ which are concerned with sexuality. Bacterium with $F$ factor is considered to be male.
