Acetabularia used in Hammerling's nucleocytoplasmic experiment is unicellular uninucleate green algae. Hammerling's experiment of Acetabularia involved exchanging rhizoid and stalk. Presence of hereditary information in the nucleous was proved by the work of Hammerling on single celled alga Acetabularia.
