Solution:

During zygotene phase of $1st$ meiotic cell division movement of chromosome takes place. The homologous chromosome are attracted towards each other and exchange their material/start pairing. This process of pairing is known as synapsis. The process takes place side by side association of paternal and maternal chromosomes.
