Q. Every metal has a definite work-function. Then, all photoelectrons do not come out with same kinetic energy, if incident radiation is monochromatic because

Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter

Solution:

When an electron absorbs sufficient energy, it is emitted and carries remaining energy as its KE. Part of energy absorbed is spent in overcoming attraction from metal surface and in collision.
$KE _{\max }=4 v-\phi=0.35\, eV$
