Q. Ethane is formed by the reaction of methyl iodide and sodium metal in dry ether solution. This reaction is known as

Solution:

When alkyl halide reacts with sodium metal in presence of dry ether to give higher alkane. This reaction is called Wurtz reaction. eg,
