Q.
Equation of a transverse wave is given by
$y = 20sin(t + 0.2x)$.
The wavelength of wave is
UP CPMTUP CPMT 2014Waves
Solution:
As $y = 20sin(t + 0.2x)$
Compare it with standard equation of wave form
$y=A\,sin\left[\frac{2\pi}{T}t +\frac{2\pi}{\lambda} x\right] $
$ \therefore \frac{2\pi}{\lambda} = 0.2 $
or $ \lambda=\frac{2\pi}{0.2}= 10\pi$
