Electrostatic precipitators are widely used in power plant for control of particulates of air pollution. The particulate matter is removed by first being charged by electrons jumping from one high voltage electrode to other and then migrating to the positively charged electrode. They do not have moving parts, require electricity and are extremely effective in removing submission particulates. They are expensive.
Various methods used to control water pollution are-
(i) Stabilisation of the ecosystem
(ii) Reutilization and recycling of waste
(iii) Removal of pollutants.
