Q.
Ecotone is
Organisms and Populations
Solution:
The adjacent biotic communities do not always have sharp lines of demarcation between them. There are usually transition zones, the ecotones, between them. An ecotone often has some populations from each adjacent community and some characteristic of itself. The total number of species in ecotone is generally greater than in the adjoining communities, a phenomenon called edge effect.
