Solution:

Generally, it is observed that intact fruits do not fall as they synthesize auxin. Abscission occurs when the auxin content falls below a minimum point. Hence, the application of auxin to the plants slows the abscission of leaves, fruits, branches, etc. The premature drop of fruits, such as apple, pear and citrus, can be prevented to a great extent by spraying the trees with a dilute solution of IAA, NAA.
