Q. Divide $₹ 690$ among three friends $A, B$, and $C$ in the ratio $\frac{1}{8}: \frac{1}{3}: \frac{1}{2}$.

Solution:

The LCM of the denominators is 21 .
$\Rightarrow \frac{1}{8} \times 24: \frac{1}{3} \times 24: \frac{1}{2} \times 24=3: 8: 12$
Sum of the terms of the ratio $=3+8+12=23$
$ \text { A's share }=₹\left(690 \times \frac{3}{23}\right)=₹ 90$
$ \text { B's share }=₹\left(690 \times \frac{8}{23}\right)=₹ 24 $
$ \text { C's share }=₹\left(690 \times \frac{12}{23}\right)=₹ 360$
