Q. Direct application of genetic knowledge for the improvement of human races

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

In 1883, British scholar, Sir Francis Galton, first used the term eugenics, which means “well-born.” The science involving selective improvement of the human species through selective mating of people having specific desirable hereditary traits is known as eugenics. The major objective of this science is to improve the gene pool with good genes and reduce human suffering from disease, disabilities and some undesirable characteristics. Galton believed that the human race can be improved by selectively breeding individuals with “desired” traits.
