Solution:

Basically Rana has three type of pigmentations melanophore, ridophore, and xanthophores. These chromatophore are controlled by the frogs central nervous system and hormones. When needed frog could put these pigment into use. They could produce a wide variety of colours/shades from brown to grey-green, etc.
