Solution:
Solution:
Diatoms are golden brown autotrophic protists and are called chrysophytes (including both diatoms and desmids). They are both aquatic and terrestrial. Some are marine. They support much of marine life. The cellulosic cell wall is impregnated with silica to form transparent siliceous shell known as a frustule. Depending upon the symmetry, diatoms may be pinnate type with bilateral symmetry (e.g., Navicula) or centric type with radial symmetry (e.g., Melosira).
