Q. Determine how many of the following statements are true at very high pressure for a real gas:
$\left(a\right)$ Compressibility factor is greater than $\text{1} \text{.}$
$\left(b\right)$ Compressibility factor varies linearly with pressure.
$\left(c\right)$ Molar volume occupied by gas is more as compared to ideal gas at similar pressure and temperature.
$\left(d\right)$ Gas is less compressible as compare to ideal gas.
$\left(e\right)$ Compressibility factor is given by $Z =1+\frac{ Pb }{ RT } .$

Solution:

At high pressure $Z \, > \, 1$ i.e. repulsive forces are relatively dominant, so gas is less compressible.
At high pressure, $a \cong 0$.
