Solution:

Plants are sensitive to sulphur dioxide and they are affected by it both directly and indirectly. The direct effects may be acute or chronic, depending on the duration and intensity of the exposure. Sulphur dioxide inhibits photosynthesis by disrupting the photosynthetic mechanism.
