Q. Deactivation of enzymes above $40^\circ C$ affects the _________ of photosynthesis and decreases the rate of photosynthesis.

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

A big range of temperatures is suitable for photosynthesis in plants. The light reactions are temperature sensitive, but they are affected to a much lesser extent. The dark reactions being enzymatic are temperature controlled. Again, the temperature optimum for photosynthesis of different plants also depends upon the habitat that they are adapted to. Tropical plants have a higher temperature optimum than the plants adapted to temperate climates.
