Q. Cyanobacteria are classified under kingdom

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Biological Classification

Solution:

In the five-kingdom classification system, the kingdom Monera includes all the prokaryotic celled organisms. Prokaryotes are organisms whose cells lack a well-defined nucleus. All the bacterial groups are included in Monera as well since bacteria have a prokaryotic cell structure. Cyanobacteria are a group of free-living photosynthetic bacteria that perform oxygenic photosynthetic process. Due to their bluish-green color and photosynthetic process, cyanobacteria were called as blue-green algae (BGA) but later changed to the current name as they appear bluish. Algae are a group of organisms that come in eukaryotic groups.
