Q. Consider the following statements w.r.t. transcription and select the right choice
(i) The promoter is said to be located towards the $5^{′}$ -end of the coding strand.
(ii) The promoter is an RNA sequence that provides a binding site for RNA polymerase.
(iii) The terminator is located towards the $3^{′}$ -end of the coding strand.
(iv) The strand that has polarity $3^{′} \rightarrow 5^{′}$ acts as a template strand.

Solution:

-Transcription is under the control of the enzyme RNA POLYMERASE (DNA dependent RNA polymerase)
-The promoter is the place which promotes transcription and it is situated upstream of a structural gene at 5’
-Terminator is situated downstream of the structural gene at the 3’ end of the coding strand.
-One of the two strands of DNA takes part in transcription.
