Q. Conductivity $(\kappa)$ of $0.01\, M\, NaCl$ solution is $0.00145\, S$ $cm ^{-1}$. What happens to the conductivity if extra $100\, mL$ of $H _{2} O$ be added to the above solution?

Electrochemistry

Solution:

Molar conductance $=\frac{\text { Specific conductance }}{\text { Molarity }}$

On dilution, molarity decreases and molar conductance increases. Hence, specific conductance decreases.
