Mucor is commonly called bread mould. It belongs to class-Phycomycetes. It frequently grows on state bread. It is a saprophyte and lives on decaying fruits, vegetables and other food matter. It consists of slender, freely branched hyphae, which are of three different types-stolons, rhizoids and sporangiophoses.
