Delhi UMET/DPMTDelhi UMET/DPMT 2001
Solution:
Coelom derived from blastocoel is known as pseudocoelom e.g., round worms. Between the bodywall and visceral organs is a spacious fluid filled cavity.
This cavity is not the true coelom as
[a] it is not lined by coelomic epithelium
[b] it develops from blastocoel i.e., between mesoderm and endoderm of the embryo.
The body cavity around the viscera contains blood and is called haemocoel. e.g., cockroach.
A true coelom lined by ciliated mesothelium is present.
It is enterocoelous, and contains a fluid with free amoeboid cells called coelomocytes.
The coelomic fluid plays an important role in food and gas transport.
