Solution:

$XX-XY$ type of sex determination is found in human beings, Drosophila and in plants like Cocdnia, Smilax, Cannabis, Melandrium etc- H.E. Warmke $(194)$ worked out sex determination in Melandrium album and described that a plant is male whea $Y$-chromosome is present and female when $Y$- chromosome is absent. In Dioscorea the male contains autosomes and one $X$-chromosome and are designated as $XO$ while the female contains autosome and two $X$-chromosomes.
