Pharyngeal gland is situated at the roof of the pharynx. Its glandular cells are known as chromophil cells which secrete a fluid, the saliva which is passed on to the lumen of the pharynx. Saliva contains mucus (a lubricating agent) and a proteolytic enzyme.
