Solution:

The carbonyl compounds with alpha hydrogen undergoes aldol condensation reaction in the presence of base. The product of aldol condensation is $\alpha ,\beta -$ unsaturated carbonyl compounds.
The product given is $\left(CH\right)_{3}CH=CH-CHO\left(\right.but-2-enal\left.\right)$
From the structure it is observed that two moles of ethanal are involved in the reaction.
