Solution:

Acetylene is not a regular acid. It has very less tendency to give away its proton.Acetylene is less acidic than water, hence, it cannot react with sodium hydroxide.

It is clear that a sufficiently stronger acid can furnish protons and can displace a weaker acid from the salt. Phenol, ethanol are sufficiently acidic. Lastly, acetic acid is stronger than ethanol.
