Menopause is the permanent cessation of ovulation and menstrual cycle in women. Lactation is the process of milk production by mammary glands. Release of ovum or oocyte from mature follicle of vertebrate ovary is known as ovulation. Expulsion of foetus from uterus at the end of pregnancy in the mammals is called parturition.
