Q. Certain amount of heat supplied to an ideal gas under isothermal conditions will result in:

EAMCETEAMCET 1997

Solution:

When a certain amount of heat is supplied to an ideal gas under isothermal condition, then there is no change in internal energy of ideal gas i.e., $ \Delta U=0. $ Hence, $ Q=\Delta U+W $ $ Q=0+W $ Thus, heat given to the system is used in doing work.
