Q. Certain amount of heat supplied to an ideal gas under isothermal condition will result in

TS EAMCET 2020

Solution:

For isothermal process, $\Delta T=$ constant
As we know that, from first law of thermodynamics,
$\Delta Q=\Delta U+\Delta W=n C_{V} \Delta T+\Delta W$
$\Rightarrow \Delta Q=\Delta W[\because \Delta T=0]$
Hence, heat supplied to an ideal gas under isothermal condition will result in external work done by the system.
