Cellulose is a polysaccharides. Cellulose is the most important structural component of the cell wall of plants. It is a linear polymer of $\beta- D$ glucose units connected through $\beta-1$ 4-glycosidic linkage. The linear chains form microfibrillae or bundles of parallel chains together by hydrogen bonds.
