Cellulose is an unbranched homopolysaccharide, a polymer of $\text{β} -$ glucose. The glucose monomers are linked together by $\text{β} -$ 1, 4 linkages. Cellulose is the main constituent of the plant cell wall. One molecule of cellulose has about 600 $\beta $ -glucose residues.
