Solution:

The cells of epithelium rest upon a common non-cellular supporting layer called 'basement membrane 'or' lamina propria.' The lamina propria is made up monopoly saccharides, glycoproteins and collagen fibres. Out of these, mucopoly saccharides and glycoproteins are secreted by the epithelial cells only.
