Q. Calculate the temperature difference and the error in calculation if the two temperatures are given as $T_{1}=20 \, ℃\pm0.5 \, ℃$ and $T_{2}=50 \, ℃\pm0.5 \, ℃$ .

Solution:

Here, $t_{1}- \, 20 \, ℃\pm0.5 \, ℃; \, t_{2}=50 \, ℃\pm0.5 \, ℃$
The temperature difference of two bodies is
$t=t_{1}- \, t_{1}=50℃-20℃=30℃$
The error in temperature difference is given by
$\Delta t=\left(\Delta t_{1} + \Delta t_{2}\right)=\left(0.5 ℃ + 0.5 ℃\right)=1 \, ℃$
The temperature difference is $30℃\pm1 \, ℃$ .
